Known as The Pretty Plumber, Lillian Ann Baumbach became the first woman to acquire a Master Plumbers licence in 1951 at the age of 21.  Not only a first in America, but believed to be in the world, Lillian became a celebrity and the object of many young men’s admiration and pursuit.

Like X-Factor Plumbing owner Karl, with his family connection to plumbing though his grandfather, Lillian’s father was a plumber, and she kept a close relationship to the family business after she married and retired from field work.  Just like X-Factor’s Tiffany, she steered the team from the office side of the business.

Lillian’s pioneering efforts inspired many women to take on the plumbing trade and it changed the profile of a very masculine pathway.
