How X Factor Plumbing Pty Ltd Helped Make a Christmas Day Plumbing Disaster Memorable

Why do plumbing disasters often happen at the most inconvenient times? Luckily X Factor Plumbing Pty Ltd has 24/7 emergency plumbers in Toowoomba to help you out – even if it is Christmas Day!!!

On Christmas Day in 2020, Karl received a call, but it wasn’t to wish him ‘Merry Christmas’…

It’s a real cracker, however, before we tell the story let’s unwrap what a normal X Factor Plumbing Pty Ltd Day looks like and how many X-Mas puns we can throw in…

A Regular Day in the Office

Behind every great plumbing service is an amazing account and administration manager. Someone who can make the customers feel at ease, prioritise jobs, and communicate effectively with the plumbing team to keep them on track and organised.

Here at X Factor Plumbing Pty Ltd, Tiffany certainly ticks all those boxes.

Tiffany is the friendly voice behind the call and makes sure the X Factor Plumbing Pty Ltd ship is running smoothly. She’s practically the Elves and Mrs Claus all rolled into one!

Most days, after school drop-offs Tiffany will spend the morning checking her list, then checking it twice, followed by responding to emails, making phone calls, then the remainder of the day is scheduling and coordinating jobs as they come in.

Being in the workshop (office) doesn’t come without its challenges. Whilst it may seem stressful at times when emergencies come in, and there is a lot of manoeuvring to get those jobs done as a priority – Tiffany enjoys the challenge.

A challenge is ok unless it’s Christmas Day. Like any family at Christmas, it’s that time of the year where you want to relax and have some time off. But plumbing problems can strike at any moment whether you’re naughty or nice.

“Sometimes, a plumbing emergency will come in and there’s a little panic on where will we fit that into the day. But I like a challenge, and I try to stay calm as I know it’s more stressful on the client.”

A Christmas Day Plumbing Problem

Christmas Day in 2020 started like every other X-Mas Day until Karl received a call. The lady on the other end wasn’t bringing happy tidings. Instead, it was a plumbing disaster that is quite common.

“I’ve got Christmas Treats everywhere!” She says in a panic.

Unfortunately, they weren’t actually Christmas Treats. That’s just the name we’ll use instead of the naughty word for poo! Her septic tank was backed up and overflowing back into the house. Yes! Christmas Treats overflowing into the house.

So, Karl sprung to his sleigh and headed to the house with the overflowing Treats and maybe a dead mouse. And laying his finger under his nose he unclogged the pipes with a mighty hose. He turned to the lady, a twinkle in his eye, “You’ll need a cleaner to get rid of this poo, here’s our business card and Merry Christmas to you.”

…2020, was a real Treaty Christmas indeed!

Why Does a Septic Tank Overflow?

Septic tank backflow is quite common, and X Factor Plumbing Pty Ltd often get a lot of calls regarding this plumbing problem. If the septic tank pipes get blocked, they can get backed up and overflow back into the house.

Not nice on any day, especially Christmas – the most wonderful time of the year.

Signs your septic tank isn’t working (backflow is inevitable):

  • Wet areas are visible around the top of the tank
  • Very unpleasant smell near the tank
  • The grass is very green and growing well around the tank (fertiliser)
  • Your toilet and/or sink take a while to drain or flush properly

How to avoid septic tank overflow (on any day):

  • Don’t flush anything except toilet paper down your loo
  • Use toilet paper sparingly – too much, too often can take a while to disintegrate
  • Place all food scraps in your proper garbage disposal – don’t rinse down the sink
  • Grease and fats can solidify causing blockages – tip excess into the garden or proper garbage disposal
  • Regular septic tank pumping is recommended
  • Try to avoid disposing of strong chemicals and disinfectants through the system – this can disrupt the normal bacteria that naturally break down your waste and process it properly through the system

Sometimes the problem may be with the system, it may be quite old and the pipes may be damaged. If this is the case your trusted team at X Factor Plumbing Pty Ltd can help you out.

So, no matter the day (Christmas or not) or night, if you are having any plumbing problems our team are on stand by and only a phone call away on 1300 091 878.
